From Slums to Streets to Schools
It's estimated that 1 Billion people live in slums world wide. For too long we have been educating the world about poverty, maybe it's time to focus on educating the impoverished. How can we address the challenges that philanthropists face when trying to solve huge problems? In this talk they walk you through how to overcome the small challenges that are faced when working to educate children living in slums. AiJaz (AJ) Rizvi is currently serving as Senior Advisor for Global Exploration at Hess Corporation. For over 28 years, AJ has held various technical and management positions in the oil and gas sector. In the past, he has worked in the Far East, the Middle East, Africa, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. On the technical side, he has two Bachelor’s degrees, one in Applied Petroleum Engineering from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and the other in Geology from the University of Karachi. He also completed his Masters in Petroleum Geology at the University of Karachi. On the commercial side, he has completed business education at Sloan School of Management at MIT. He served as Co-Chair of the Real Time Optimization Group within the Society of Petroleum Engineers for 4 years. He has authored many technical papers and holds multiple US and International patents. He has also served as a National Energy Policy advisor with the US Department of Energy.
